WALT: Use conjunctions (for, and, nor, but, or, and yet, so) to join independent clauses to add variety to sentence lengths to make our writing more interesting.

A time when I felt annoyed...

What a crazy day’, I sighed whilst locking the classroom door.  The heavy rucksack pulled towards the ground and I needed to steady myself on the step to stop myself from falling.  Sweat stuck my hair to my forehead.  I was not in any mood to deal with disruptions nor was I prepared for the calamity that was waiting for me in the car park…  I trudged across the court for things were about to go downhill very quickly.  The handles of the shopping bags containing piles of exercise books, dug into the flesh of my fatigued hands.  I lay the bags on the hot tarmac so I could search for my keys.  Fumbling in the bottom of my handbag, I blindly explored dark depths.  Locating the cool shiny bunch took some time but I persevered determinedly.  My efforts were rewarded with success.  I opened the car door and threw my heavy bags onto the back seat.  The seat was torn and old yet I felt a mixture of relief and contentment to be heading home.  I turned the key…  There was no sound.  I tried again but the silence continued.  It was deafening.  That old banger was going nowhere in a hurry, and I wasn’t either!
